We have been invited to a wedding reception near Bognor Regis at the begining of May. We thought we would make a holiday of it and are thinking about staying at Rowan Park CC Site. Can anybody tell me what it's like there please. It's not the type of site we would usually go for as it looks to be very close to a built up area and we prefer countryside, and we also like to be able to go on nice walks from the site with the dog. The other options are Sheepcote Valley or Rookesbury Park.

Hello Julian, we went to Rowan Park last year. The site is to the usual C.C. standards and theres a dog walk by the main entrance which leads onto open council land without having to cross a road. Watch the dog dumps though because it is mostly used by locals who don't bother to clean up, lots of dog walkers let their dogs roam loose too. The downside is across the road is a retail park and about 11pm at night the morons come out of the woodwork and play games in their killing machines burning rubber. The noise is horrendous. It went on most nights we were there and the one night I went to have a look the police arrived. I saw the police with their notebooks out probably taking names but it made no difference, they were back again the following night. Bognor Regis itself must have been an upmarket town in Victorian times because I've seen old photos of it but today it's a dump. Lots of the regal buildings have been demolished to be replaced by the featureless apartment blocks that you see in all cities today.

Have to agree with above reply. This site is rather noisy all day and at night due to close proximity to the main road.

Rookesbury park is quiet and lots of local walks, and ok for the dog, just walk through the site gates and the forest of Bere is on the left.

Sheepcote valley is also quiet but busy, local walks and dog walking outside the site again.

You could also try Northbrook farm,at Worthing.Walking nearby, but only a small dog walk on site.

My personal preferece would be Rookesbury park.

Hi Julian ,we stayed at a nice CC CL site near Chichester a few miles outside Bognor its very rural ,yet not really of the beaten track ,lots of rabbits & pheasants plus woodpeckers on site ,its very tranquil, Chichester Harbour is only a few miles away.

if you look on page 443 in the latest CC sites directory handbook its under Mr & Mrs E H Pope Ashling Lodge Moutheys lane ,Tel 01243 575455 ,your outfit is very secure there as any body arriving there has to go past the Farm House ,hope this is some help
