Rusty Towbar

My X-Trail has a Witter towbar fitted.

Over the winter it has developed a rusty appearance, presumably due to salt.

The ball has a cover and is still in good order, but i am worried that the strength of the towbar may be compromised.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Don't worry! If you can, just give it a wire brush and then a coat of paint (Hammerite?).

The paint on my Navara tow bar is peeling, a quick brush and some hammerite should sort things.
