"Screeching" fanmaster

Hi,

The blow air fan in my 1998 Swift is making a loud screeching noise when its first switched on. After about 5mins the noise stops & apart from the annoyance the heating works really well. I stripped down the fan/heater unit & it was full of dust etc which I carefully cleaned off. There was no sign of any metal to metal contact in the fan housing or any evedence of undue play in the motor bearings.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Undue play? any play is to much and the motors worn if there is.

The noise is from the bearing which is dry, once running and originally being 'self lubricating', it will quieten down. However it's only a matter of time before the motor overloads and damages the control board.

Ok thanks,

Is it possible to replace the bearings or is a new motor required?

Any idea where best to buy the part & likely cost? I can fit it myself.

Thanks again,

No the motors a sealed unit and not worth repairing but you can get a new motor from me, www.arcsystems.biz
