Seasonal Pitches

We have a twin anxle caravan on a seasonal pitch in Lincolnshire.

We prefer to leave it set up, including awning, as it is easier to use it every weekend. The site manager told us, which we don't dispute, that we can only stay there for nine months and then the van will have to go into their compound for the winter three months. This is due to rules regarding council tax. We have our own home seventy miles away, on which we pay council tax, and my husband has a full-time job near home, so we would obviously not be able to live in the van. We do not really want to go to the trouble of moving the van onto another site for three months and feel we are being prevented from using our van all year round when the site is open. Are we being unreasonable? We'd like to hear your comments. Thanks Anne & Granville Smith

You are being perfectly reasonable, but the site owner is also quite correct. His site will be listed as a holiday letting, and attracts special rules regarding council tax, IF he allows 12month occupation his site becomes residential and attracts a much higher rate of CT. He is also subject to different planning regulations.

Sorry but if you want 12month occupancy you will have to seek an alternative location.
