Second Hand van prices

That’s an interesting observation as a few have been predicting that there will be a rise in the number of sales as the “ novelty” of caravanning wears off. A less than idyllic summer and the real costs, challenges and responsibilities being recognised and Mum deciding this really isn’t the holiday portrayed in the magazines. We’ve always enjoyed caravanning and being outdoors, but admittedly it isn’t for all. Saying that we also do like to get away to the sun too.
And those caravan parks that were charging silly prices will be remembered by those in the regular caravan and will be avoided!

Yes but re cruise prices I went on a Christmas 2 week cruise over the whole period 21Dec to 4 Jan on P and O two months before the lockdown the family cost was 2.5 K - I looked this year and it’s 4.2 K ….. the FOMO can rush and pay it , I will wait

I’d agree with you, at 2.5K and two weeks over Christmas and New Year £178 per night for the group is fantastic value. I guess as folks get more confident in mixing and covid really starts to wane the cruise numbers on board will get back to something approaching normal and the system will come back into balance again.

You cannot beat a Christmas cruise to the canary’s from SOU no washing up and brilliant ports !

The Balmoral was always for the money no object scene but even then doubling the price looks over the top.
I have always said that there was a fair chance that prices would drop once the current crisis eased and due to the fact that caravans are not for everyone. The ones who did not like the idea and many who will return to holidays in far flung places can only reduce prices on used models and may be the makers will catch up with backlogs that mean many are still holding their trade ins which would otherwise have been moved on.

The downside is that if you want to trade in your caravan for a later model, dealer will probably make an offer that is unreasonably low due to surplus of caravans. Possibly you may have no choice except to accept their offer if you want a newer caravan.
I think the same thing is going to apply to second hand cars as our Jeep is now worth an extra +£2000 more than it was the same time last year. The raises the question regarding insurance as value has increased since insuring it at the current market value several months ago.

Hence the part where I said if you sell like we did and now have 5 K more than we paid for it 3 years ago we bought for 8 and sold for 13 K -

Dealers are feeling the pinch. According to PCv Roundstone Caravans in Sussex and Lowdhams Huddersfield have ceased trading due to lack of stock. More people are selling privately at grossly inflated prices. Manufacturers are having difficulty with some parts supplies. It’s well documented on here the delays some are experiencing awaiting delivery of their new unit.
I’m keeping mine for the foreseeable future. The bubble will burst 😎

yes I see lots of old vans breaking up and being cannabolised

Fact check Dusty. Lowdhams Huddersfield have temporarily suspended all sales. Workshop and servicing remains as was. Still planning a move to new premises. This from their own website.
