Seventies 4x4 VW Transporter

VW were no strangers to 4x4 with the Iltis 4x4 in production for the German, Canadian and Belgian military from 1978 - and it was the 4x4 system from these which made the Audi Quattro such an invincible rally car - that original Iltis/Quattro layout is still in use in Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 and VW Touareg although all the components have been upgraded
 
There were a few in Nigeria, in the early 80s and also 4x4 Peugot 504 estates, double leaf spring suspesions.
