Im about to buy a pair of shock for my Abbey but want to know if it possible to fit them with a powrtouch mover fitted. its a single axel and the mover is fitted as standard in front of the wheels.

My Dad has always had movers fitted to the axles of his Besecarrs, single and twin axles and they have shock absorbers fitted so I shouldn't think you will have a problem.

I fitted them to my Avondale, with a mover in front of the wheels with no problem. Check the gap between the mover and the chassis, I had to move the mover outwards by about 6 mm to clear the shocks.

Excuse me asking a daft question (newbie!), why do you want to fit shocks to your 'van?
Is there an improvement in the towing with shocks fitted?

Very much so, yes. You'll find that the caravan is a lot less twitchy and bouncy with shock absorbers fitted. Because of this there is a safety aspect involved and therefore they are a legal requirement in Germany.
Powrtouch, however, have two models of mover, one for caravans without and one with shock absorbers so you need to check whether you can retrofit shock absorbers to a caravan that already has the Model 1 installed.

The Model 3 shouldn't be a problem, but you would be wise to check, all the same.
I would have thought, however, that Powrtouch would be the right people to address your question rather than AlKo, because AlKo will not take into account fitment of a non-AlKo product to one of their chassis. Vice versa, Powrtouch should be well aware of any potential problems.

We have them fitted on our Bailey with a Riech move control too.
No problems and they do make for a smoother ride.

Lutz, I contacted Alko and as you sugested they pointed me in the direction of Powrwheel. I have emailed them today, but on their website they state the heavey duty is ok with shocks fitted
