Shock, horror

Every week we buy a packet of Tesco Ginger nuts and a packet of Tesco digestives. Cost is under £2 for about 60 biscuits. Yesterday as we are away on holiday we decided to treat ourselves to a luxury box of Victoria biscuits.

Got back to the cottage and brewed the tea to have our nice biscuits. Shock, horror on opening the box which cost ss £4. We would have been lucky if there were 20 biscuits in this large box. Definitely nowhere worth the £4! I can remember the days that when you bought a tin of biscuits it was crammed with biscuits of every variety. Sadly it seems that those biscuits tins no longer exist!

Back to the shops again to buy our usual which will last us a week instead fo 2 - 3 days,

We our girls were small, Saturday night tea was often Jacket Potatoes, Cheese and Beans. All four of us would get enough beans from one tin.

Now one tin just does me.

Those days have long gone when you use to get a good amount of biscuits for your money looks like another visit and spend more money .

Everything is getting smaller. Just look at Quality Street and Celebrations tubs. I joked in the supermarket that one day the tub will contain a single chocolate 😭🤣.

It's time consuming, but reading the packaging to get the net weight is the way forward - some supermarkets show the price per 100 g as well as the package price.

I always do that especially when buying 🍺, got caught out before buying a large box 📦, only to find out it was wee dumpy bottles. Didn't sleep for a week 🙃
