sites in the vendee?

hi, does anyone know any sites in the vendee, we are members of caravan club and have looked at le pin parasol and domaine des forges, we have 2 young boys, really just want a nice site where you can walk to bars/restuarants in the evening?

thanks

We stayed at the Pin Parasol in 2009. It is a superb site, clean toilets and fantastic swimming pool. But you are very limited for walks to bars and restuarants in the evenings (other than the one on site which we didn't try) as the nearest town is several miles away. We did use the snack bar and weren't impressed because of the very limited range but it was June which of course is out of season there.
There is another restaurant on the banks of the lake, about a mile away with a steep descent and climb through the woods. We used it in the day when walking the dogs but it would be very difficult at night.

Difficult to answer because there are SO many sites in that area. We went to Le Pin last year and are going to La Garangeoire this year - pretty similar sites in the same area but both miles from any town.
There are loads of sites on the coast that are walking distance to a town centre and have all the facilities as well as being closer to the beach. Personally, we looked around a few of them and they were much more cramped (smaller pitches) than the inland sites and more expensive but you might prefer them.
If the admin people on here don't mind me advertising another forum, try www.ukcampsite.co.uk - they have a great site search facility which works by clicking on a map, and then has user reviews for each of the sites. I use it all the time and find it very accurate...

thank you very much indeed for your information another one we are thinking of is la yole which seems it may have more around, thanks again for you reply

We stayed at La Yole about 3 years ago in low season (Whitsun) with two young children. Very nice comfortable site - swimming pool ok for younger chilren. Very clean bar and restaurant. There are a few shops near to the local beach but more at St Jean de Monts. The beach at St Jean is vast. There are two good supermarkets right next to each other on the way to the site (Intermarche and Super U).

We are hopefully booking Camping les Ecureuils in Jard sur Mer. The reviews are good, and its within walking distance of bars and restaurants. But we havn't been there YET!
