Could anyone recommend a campsite near Cherbourg or within an hour or so drive. We are arriving at 8pm so just want an overnighter before we head south. Also is it still best to avoid parking in service stations or similar for the night. Grateful for any advice.

We will be using the municiple at Valognes about 15 miles south of Cherbourg. Exelent toilet/shower block and town

Michael which we are you going into Belgium and South or are you going West and then South in France? If you are going the latter the site at Guines is very good for overnight. We stopped there last week on our way home to the Tunnel which is only 8 miles away. If going thro Belgium the site at Jobekke is very good. Both are ACSI sites E15.if you are going before July.
