Hi

Cc sites that spring to mind that we have stopped on are Clumber Park cc and Pembrey Country Park cc in South Wales. Chatsworth cc has lots of grounds to walk in rather than forest. Would recommend each one.

Hi,

Try the New Forest area. Loads of sites, big, medium and small. Lots of CS & CL's too plus the CC New Forest site. Various sites with different levels of facilities. Not many with electric, but lots with showers & toilets like Hollands Wood or Ashurst. If you want a more remote site where you will find just a tap and chemical toilet point try Denny Wood or Matley Wood. All the sites have wild animals - ponies, donkeys, etc roaming.

As for walking, there are loads of places to walk. Get yourselves an OS map and walk through to villages a then either walk back a different route via a pub or two or take the train back depending on where you are staying. There are plenty of stone tracks that go through the forest to aid your walk, or off course you can make you own paths. Just beware of the marsh areas. Enjoy.

Forgot to add, if you are a Camping and Caravan club member and staying at a Forestry commission site you can get a fair discount on the nightly fees.

Forest holidays - Forest of Dean, not far from Coventry.

There are three sites in one here.

You can if you want be immersed within the trees, so much so that you can't see the sky for trees (Woodlands) - a bit too dark for us when we went there in October.

So we stayed at the more open site Bracelands, but overlooking the forest and completely surrounded by it. GORGEOUS in autumn.

If you're lucky you will see the Deer in the surrounding forset - my son did, a buck was looking over the fence into the site one morning.

I think Forest holidays are managed by Caravan and Camping club now, but they still have their own web site and you do not have to be a C&CC member.

Hey come on down to the Forest of Dean not only deer but if you're really lucky you might spot wild boar as well. Forest Holidays at Parkend have great areas for children. Ther's also a Go Ape adventure at Mallards Pike. Beechenhurst picnic area has a brand new climbing wall for all.
