Skoda Octavia as tow car?

Does anyone tow with a Skoda Octavia? Just sold our motorhome and looking to buy a 4 berth caravan and tow with a Skoda Octavia. Can anyone give us any advice?

Hi

I've had an Octavia Scout TDi for the last 2 years and it's been brilliant, best tow car I've had. Originally looked at the 1.9TDi 4x4, but went for the Scout version with more powerful engine.

I down sized from a SsangYong Rexton mainly for cost reason, I wanted a car that was easier to drive everyday going to work, cheeper car tax and better fuel economy but still wanted a 4x4 as we go rallying all year.

The Skoda a easy to drive everday - especially parking, large boot for caravanning gear, 4x4 for getting off wet sites, brilliant build quality.

I tow a 1425kg Coachman, really stable outfit, never had a problem at all.

Would certainly buy another Octavia, most Skoda dealer are really nice as well, they treat you well and treat you with respect and they know what they are talking about.

Never regretted buying the Octavia

Cheers

Currently on our third Octavia hatchback, must be some kind of recommendation! All have been diesels - 110, 130 and now 140 bhp. Car tows superbly well with bags of torque and huge boot.

Our caravan is quite light at 1100 kg (Hobby 400 SB), consumption towing is about 29 mpg with previous Octavias about 34 mpg. Solo low 50's with previous cars high 50's. Would we have another Octavia? Yes, without any hesitation.

Hi, I have towed with a 1.9 diesel Octavia for two seasons and never had a problem, van 1300k. The car has done every thing I have asked of it, even pulling off wet grass. We do tend to load the back seats to get the weight forward.

Motorways and A roads 30 to 35 mpg depending on weight in car,on steep B roads the car is a little slow but it still pulls well.

We are on our fourth Octavia, 105 bhp 1.9 diesel, cannot fault towing 1208kgs caravan, 30mpg towing, 55mpg solo.
I tow an Elddis Antigua 524 MTPLM 1325kg with my Octavia VRS CR Tdi. No problems at all, a very capable tow car, Just watch out for the 1400kg towing limit.
