solar panels

Hi

Can anyone advise on what size solar panel i would need to keep a 110 amp/hr battery charged whilst on prolonged holiday without mains hook up.

Alan. Where and when will you be, Scotland or Tropics,

Summer or Winter. I tour the UK, never further South than Jersey, rarely North of Cumbria. I have a 55watt which keeps my 110 battery OK for most of the year, I have to be economical with lights, and very little TV, in the Winter, but Easter to October I have been OK on breaks up to 4 weeks.

Hi Alan, you don't say what appliances you will be using which will be taking power from your leisure battery. Solar panel size will be very dependant on how much you power you expect to take out of the leisure battery during a 24 hour period which you can replace during daylight hours. A rough guide would be that a 30watt panel could produce 1.75amp (per hour) depending on daylight conditions. The highest charge rate can be realised in good clear light for a two hour period each side of mid-day.
