sorry couldnt resist for Brakyewindy LOL(totally off subject)Grandpa's Viagra
Grandma and Grandpa were visiting their kids overnight.
When Grandpa found a bottle of Viagra in his son's medicine cabinet, he asked about using one of the pills.
The son said, "I don't think you should take one Dad, they're very strong and very expensive."
"How much?" asked Grandpa
"$10.00 a pill," Answered the son.
"I don't care," said Grandpa, I'd still like to try one, and before we leave in the morning, I'll put the money under the pillow."
Later the next morning, the son found $110.00 under the pillow.
He called Grandpa and said "I told you each pill was $10.00, not $110.00."
I know," said Grandpa ... "The hundred is from your mother!"
Heheheh ... please say you got it at MediJokes.Com :)

According to the milkmaids round at Screwham Hall, Lord Braykewynde regularly practices the 'laying on of hands' but I would steer clear if I were you
smiley-laughing.gif

Sadly that's all I'm good for these days with the milkmaids and stable lasses due to chillblains but my chambermaid would write me a reference especially after she's given me my nightcap of Horlicks and Viagra
smiley-smile.gif
I should point out that Lord B's Horlicks is to help him to sleep.
The vagra is for his aforementioned chillblains.
The bedclothes irritate Lord B's chillblains which are on his legs.........................
the horlicks and viagra nightcap helps him to keep the bedclothes off his legs while he's asleep

Hi Lollie
Their best option would be to pay for the caravan to be put right, they obviously know that they are morally at fault otherwise they would have replied to your emails etc.
They will know that you mean business when they receive the letter from you.

Hi Parksy
I will post a copy of the letter(minus anyones personal info) , once we get to the end of this just for guidance for other people; it is written in quiet a legal format so would be helpful for people as a draft, just as to how even start the tone of such like letters.
well I hope by the time the weekends over we might know how its going to proceed but they have till next friday.
I feel better for knowing that that part is done, and not there pressing on me..
its such a shame too because at no point did we ever want to break communications up to this point we had all remained in contact and friends, but of course any hint of a problem and complete silence, it is so sad, but i feel we were left with no option what so ever, its not as if i would willingly walk to a drain in the street and empty £4400 down it..
Just before the damp issuse came to light we had a Powertouch motor mover fitted, which i used today for the first time what a brilliant thing they are and thankfully you can move them between vans without effecting your warrenty.

In circumstances like this it is also worth posting a second letter normal post, but get a proof of posting which costs nothing. In a court of law solid evidence especially with RD slip! I use the proof of possting method when sending anything to DVLA.

Whilst in theory recorded delivery or signed for delivery seems a sensible solution, but if my postal delivery is anything to go by , more often than not the packages I receive that should have been signed for are simply left with my normal post on my doorstep.

We have the same issue. Technically it is fraud as the postman is forging your signature. we told him not to do this any more and we woudl rather collect. Apparently it is quite a widespread practice with posties.

Good iead surfer i think we will do that tomorrow as the letter is still showing as being in the main city PO which isnt exactly near them, plus i think they must be on holiday either that or done a bloody runner LOL.
I know what you mean about the post our postman does it too but we are so rural that i understand him doing it and he will only do it if he is sure that i am in an unable to go to the door..

I'm sorry to hear about your husbands job Lollie. The same thing happened to me years ago during a spell of sick leave after I'd had two fairly serious heart attacks. I have to be honest and say that they did me a favour, the job that I had would have killed me in the end.
I said to the office wallah who gave me the news that they were 'having to let me go' that I sincerely hoped that it might happen to him one day. The firm closed suddenly a year later, most of it is now a housing estate and the rest of the place is razed to the ground.
Karma!!

HI all
still no news I think it is as fartypants ohps sorry as Brakewynd says they are away on holiday with the help of our caravan moneys something we wont be having at all at this rate!!
Parksy, god what an awful thing to happen, I am trying to tell my OH that these things happen for a reason and to spread his wings, try and think of something away from his usual qualified role. doesnt help that his company cant even follow there own disiplinary proceedure, so it was a night of more legal letters and i am shattered.

could do with a break in the van, ha lol that right its to bleeding wet, and that on the inside.

We have not bought another BBQ yet, but still looking. Not been near a Tesco anyway as we live about 8 miles from the nearest one.
BTW have your registered on http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/index.php You will get some excellent advice and help on there for both your problems especially regarding OH..

Hi Lollie
It's no surprise they haven't replied. I'd lay a penny to a pound they know what's in the letter.
Here's my proposal:-
Ring the CAB and tell them you are no further forward.
You are at the crossroads and can do one of three things.
1. Do nothing and take the hit on the chin.
2. With help from the CAB issue a small claims court action.
3. Seek Professional Legal advice from a solicitor regarding what legal remedies are open to you for recovery of your monies.

I think you have been very patient and tried all the "amicable" routes to no avail.

Best of luck.

Hi Lollie
As Dustydog so eloquently pointed out you have unfortunately arrived at a crossroads and need to decide which path to pursue.
You could continue to try to contact the people who sold this caravan to you, conceal your own telephone number by dialling in 141 and then the number that you are trying to reach but even if you do manage to establish a dialogue what next?
It appears to be obvious that these people are unscrupulous and have no intention of trying to reach an amicable settlement.
You could take them to court but even if you were to win is there any guarantee that these people would pay?
If you pay a personal visit you might be on shaky ground, they could simply order you off their property.
From what you have written this whole episode appears to be bringing you down and depression is the last thing that you need on top of your husbands job situation.
A d-i-y repair is the least expensive option, it is entirely possible to repair a damp caravan, maybe not to workshop standards but well enough to render the caravan habitable.
We've been unfortunate enough to buy caravans affected by damp in the past, we didn't spend quite as much money as you have but the money that we did spend represented a significant percentage of our income at that time and we lost our money when we sold the two caravans that were damp. Before these damp caravans were sold we continued to use them and in fact we had some great times visiting various places in each of them so at least we had something.
I learned a hard lesson, I joined this forum mainly as a result of being caught out by rogue vendors and I will never be caught out in that way again.
I haven't let it ruin my life, both of us had to put it down to experience. The world carried on turning and eventually we found ourselves in a position to buy a brand new caravan, we lost that in the floods after only three month of ownership.
Fortunately we were fully insured so we replaced our caravan with another brand new model which we still have (and will have for the foreseeable future!)
Try to do something positive, if these people are not going to put matters right then look at ways of alleviating the dampness to make the best out of a bad situation and in the meantime read up on how to effect some sort of repair so that this caravan will tide you over until your situation improves.
