Would anyone know when the Sorrento changed from a 4 speed automatic gearbox to a 5 speed?

I think it was around 2005 but am not sure.

Many thanks,Adrian

I have a 2008 auto which is 5 speed, but I think they changed from 2006 when the power was upped from 138bhp to 168bhp.

That's correct. The facelift Sorrie appeared in autumn 2006 with more powerful engine and single colour scheme. It didn't have self levelling rear suspension like the earlier model, not that it's needed.

The other replies are incorrect as I have recently sold an March 04 Sorento XS which had the 5 speed gearbox. The 4 speed was used for a relatively short period in 03/early 04.

Thanks otherclive.
Maybe I will have to delve deeper on the internet for more info then.
I also thought that all the Sorrento models had self levelling suspension.

The UK Kia Forum is a valuable source of information and advise. The SL suspension was dropped with the facelift model but it gave a jiggly ride whereas the facelift model was a bit smoother to drive, and the suspension is so robust most people don't notice the lack of SL. The web address of the Kia forum is http://kiasorento.proboards46.com/

I might add that in 7 years of hard work the Sorento never had anything fail and my only costs were servicing and consumables. I bought the Sorento after a very unhappy experience witha Series 2 Discovery but was disappointed when the new Sorento went soft roader and expensive too, so I boughta XC70 which will have a hard act following the Sorento. Good luck with your search.

Thanks for that otherclive.
I did have a 55 plate Sorrento XT 2.5 manual about 2 1/2 years ago and must admit that it was a great towcar,I found it was very heavy on fuel.Someone told me that there was a bad batch of injectors on some cars so whether I had one of those im not sure.
Consumption on it around town was only about 25-28mpg.
On a run,about 32mpg....very dissapointing.
At the moment I have a 06 reg CRV 2.2 desiel manual (approx.85% match),and although it tows our Sancerre ok,I have a feeling that I will be changing it soon for a Sorrento as the grandchildren will be coming away with us soon and we have another dog too now...it all mounts up doesnt it?
My budget would be about £12-£14,000 which I reckon might stretch to a low mileage 07 plate .
Thanks for the Kia website.....will have a browse now.

The links sometimes don't work well, but Google "UK Kia Sorento Forums" and then look for the web address that includes "proboards" in the string. The other forum is a worlwide one and I found it far less relevant than the one above.
