I seem to remember reading somewhere that speed camera detectors

are not allowed in France. We have recently bought a new sat nav system which has a detector built in and we are not sure if we can use it when we go to France at the end of this month. Can anyone confirm if we are OK or not. Thanks. Kate

I stand to be corrected but I think that sat nav system is ok but detectors such as 'angel' I can't remember the proper name are illegal.May I suggest if you are member of the main clubs or booking via Select Sites or Alan Rogers ask them they will know the definative answer.

If it is a sat nav with a build in data base of

where speed cameras are, then thats ok.

But i believe you are talking about one of those duel

system [road angels?] then i believe you could fall foul of

the law in france....

Sat navs are just a database so are ok. A "detector" such as a Snooper or Bell is illegal in France & they have detector detector's [so to speak]. They can confiscate your car if they find one. I always put mine in the boot in France
