Stopover site near M5 Stroud/Cheltenham

In June we are travelling down from Yorkshire to Dorset are are looking for a quiet site for an overnight stay, not far from the M5, around Cheltenham/Stroud. We have previously stayed on one of the services on the M5 but didn't get much sleep due to refrigeration units on HGVs running all night long.

The Caravan Club has a site at Tewkesbury which is just minutes from the Motorway ( you don't have to be a member )

They also manage a site at Cheltenham racecourse.

The Camping & Caravan Club have a site at Winchcombe.

We once used a CL at Frampton on Severn which was minutes from Junct.13 of the M5 which was very quiet ( but you have to be a member of the CC to use CL's.)

Have just Googled & found:-

tudor arms site at slimbridge lovely, right next to great pub which does a good variety of food, near to the canal and about quarter mile from the Wildfowl Trust.

We are staying at the Tudor in June for the first time, any info on the site would be appreciated. We have a 4 and 5 year old are there things for them to do there.

I would recommend the Caravan Club site at Tewkesbury Abbey - only about 10 minutes from Junction 9 of the M5 and dead easy to find - lovely site on the end of the town by the abbey - all grass pitches and two toilet blocks - short walk from site into Tewkesbury town centre with a good range of shops and a nearby supermarket

thanks everyone for your comments, I have actually booked at Tewksbury. I stayed there many years ago and it is a nice site. We can also get a good breakfast at Morrisons to set us up for our journey.

I live in Tewkesbury and we booked in to that site for our first outing when we picked up our new van. It rained all day and they cancelled our booking as they flooded, but they moved us to Cheltenham Racecourse as that is all hard standing.

We had been to look round and it is a lovely site but being in Tewkesbury and close to the river it is liable to flooding.

We have had a lot of rain since the end of last week and the flood plains will probably be up soon. Just have a back-up in mind in case the typical british weather lets you down!!

We are staying at the Tudor in June for the first time, any info on the site would be appreciated. We have a 4 and 5 year old are there things for them to do there.

We stayed at the Tudor park with our two granddaughters: there wasn't much for them to do on site, but there is plenty of room for kids to run around and play. The girls loved walking up to the canal to feed the ducks, and if you are lucky, you may even see the swing bridge being operated. The Wildfowl Trust caters quite well for children and there is a farm not far away that is open to the public. We also had a trip to Bristol Zoo, which was very good.
