Suitability?

Hi.

Can anyone out there comment on the suitability of an Jaguar X Type for towing a newish, medium sized caravan. The model is a 2.5 automatic saloon (all wheel drive). I asked because I have never seen one towing or even this car with a tow bar on.

Thanks

Ken

Hi Glen

Thanks for your comments.

Is your X Type the Automatic?

We are consdering buying a caravan for next year and were concerened about the cars suitability, seems it should be fine.

I logged onto this website to get my head around "towing a caravan" and it seems to have all the answers.

You mention a detachable tow ball, does this mean ( or is preferable )you have to go for the Alko type hitch?

We have had the car about 2 1/2 years and last week incured our first expence (apart from servicing etc.) when we lost the flick and intermitant wipe ( windscreen wipers) it turned out to be a relay so it was nothing serious. Thanks.
Mine is a manual.

The type of hitch on the van makes no difference. Its just when your driving solo the sensors beep everytime you put it in reverse unless you remove the towbar.

Cheers
