super chips

I had 2 cars chipped at a firm in Blackpool where they use a laptop to rewrite the engine program

They were much smoother and had a lot more torque

Strangely enough I felt that the 1st X Trail neded no chipping so Nissan upped the power output themselves !

As Seth says, the quick answer is yes. Ideally use a reboost and remap which is supplied by, or endorsed by, your vehicle manufacturer rather than one of the many plug-in boxes which are available. Steer well clear of the ones available on ebay for 100quid.

Hi John,

I hope you have considered the insurance implications. A friend of mine had insurance refused until he had the chip removed! If you don't inform them and have an accident it is enough for them to nulify your cover.

Any franchised dealer should be able to tell you if the engine mapping is as it left the factory, or if it has been modified.
