Swift challenger 510 se 1991/Renault laguna 1.9 dci 130 bhp

Greetings,

I have just bought a swift challenger 510 se 1991. However I am concerned that my current car will be lacking slightly when I come to towing it.

Its a Renault Laguna 1.9 dci hatch with 130 bhp

The guy I have bought it off had a 2 ltr Mondeo and he said that towed the van fine with no problems.

I dont know about the weight match but if its power that concerns you, you can always fit a Diesel Power upgrade. It would take your 130bhp to approx 155bhp whilst keeping within manufacturers tolerances (if you fit the correct one)and more miles per gallon if driven conservativley.

Hi Tim,

If you register with the renault forum , of which i am a part a few lads on there tow with the 1.9 dci , they will let you know. I have the 3ltr V6 which is slightly different from yours so cannot say one way or the other .. link as follows ...

Having real problems finding the vans exact weight. I have the handbook , but the model is not listed.

I have been on whattowcar.com and and its very borderline to say the least, 90%

So if anyone know the weight of it , please get back to me.!

Hi again Tim,

Renault wieghts are very confusing to say the least, i would assume mine is not much different from yours in that respect , i tow an abbey vogue 417 gts (4 berth) without any problem whatsoever. Saying that i had progressive springs fitted on the rear to stop rear end sag , improved it enormously.

Like i said try the renault forums a few of the lads have caravans and i am sure they will guide you.

Good luck ........ Harry
