Television reception in Spain

Hi im off to the Costa Brava Tommorrow, just wondered if any one has ever bothered to take their television, if so how successful was the tuning.

Regards Paul

I take it you are referring to a satellite system because without it, you haven't got a chance. If there aren't too many clouds you may get away with a 60cm dish on the Costa Brava but the footprint on the Astra website indicates that ideally you would need one twice that size.

Hi Paul

With a 66cm Maxview dish we can pick up Sky News, some of the Free to View Channels and Radio 2 & 4 when we're staying near Barcelona. In some weather conditions you MIGHT get BBC1 / ITV but don't bank on it unloess you have a bigger dish and a really good LNB. The Digibox you use makes a difference as well

You'd be surprised at just how many do!! We've met loads of people (not just British) who seem to spend all day tuning and re-tuning their satellite dish - and we actually met one couple who 'love watching Look North' (regional BBC programme) as they told us when they'd spent three hours messing around with the dish - and they appeared never to leave their van the whole time they were on site, they were inside with the television on! It wasn't raining, either, and they'd paid extra for a beachside pitch!

Last world cup we took our 15" LCD television to France, the site was about 100M from the Spanish border.

Retuning television was no problem, picked up French and Spanish terestial stations and enjoyed the world cup also.
