Hi Wayne. If you have a multistandard TV you can pick up Spanish TV stations (if you understand the language!). Not sure if there are English language transmissions for the ex pats - should at least be if near Gibralter.

The multistandard set I have has a set up menu where you input Country and Language before running a scan for channels. It even works in France on the SECAM system.

Hope this helps.

Hi

Look at the threads for sat systems. You can pick them up for reasonable prices, from places like Lidle, B&Q,& Mapplins etc. You may need a larger dish but we did well with a small dish from Northern Spain. Or if you have one at home why not take it with you.

Hi.

If you want to buy a satellite system I would recommend buying it in France or Spain. You can get an 85cm dish complete with digital receiver box in any DIY store (Leroy Merlin, Butt, M.Bricolage, etc.). The going price is 79 euros in France and 99E in Spain, but I have seen them for as low as 59E. The only extras you need are a length of co-ax cable (plugs are supplied with the kit) and a pole or tripod to mount it on. The latter is better as it gives much more flexibility for sighting it in an unobstructed position (must have a clear view to the South East). I would recommend buying a tripod from Max-View in this country before setting out.

Hope this helps

We are going to give the satelite system a go in Spainnext year but up until now we have taken our DVD and video with us. I record plenty of films from the tv during the year also Discovery programs.

Its fairly easy to get enough material to last for the odd evening.

I do miss the news though.
