The Covert Norfolk

We are thinking of applying for a seasonal pitch at The Covert CC site Swaffaham for 2009 as my parents both have poor health & share our van. We just wondered if anyone has stayed at this site & if so could pass on any comments good or bad,(trying to do a little research first this time before commiting ourselves!) we know there is no toilet block, our main concerns are does the site/pitches suffer from poor drainage etc. We had a seasonal this year on a CC site from the middle of March but it was late May before we could use the van due to the pitches being waterlogged, we understand that the weather was unseasonable to say the least but on talking to the regulars this was a common occurance at this particular site due to it's clay base, how does the saying go, once bitten twice shy!!!

Michael, this site is an old army camp, all hardstandings are concrete and you cannot use an awning, if you need an awning then the pitches will be grass. We have been to the site a few times, mainly around Easter and it can be wet, it just depends upon the weather!

We have had a seasonal pitch there this season.The hardstandings are concrete as stated above, but every body seems to have acquired Fiamma Caravanstore Awnings with water filled plastic containers designed to go around the poles, as we have.Come and join the 12 or so regulars who have been there for the last two or three seasons.We have had some very good weather there this year,true we have had a lot of rain, but so has every where else.Most of the grass pitches were in use all of the time, we did not see any actually shut.This is a really good site if you have dogs,with unlimited walks in Thetford Forest, which completely surrounds the site. Everybody to their own,some peoples likes are other peoples dislikes, but we do like it.The only downpoint is that it is usually packed at Bank Holidays,the secret is not to be there then, but go on the other weeks.
