The job we hate

Everyone hates emptying the loo cassette, the fewer times the better I say, so why do we have to take up 2 litres of capacity with the initial charge of water?. When there are site loos, number 2s go there and the van loo is just used for 1s overnight, even when there are no facilities on rallies/CLs there is usually a good quantity of filtered beer in the cassette before any solids drop in, so I for one have stopped adding water to the cassette and just add the chemical, as yet I have noticed no difference.

I only put enough water in the holding tank to cover the bottom of the tank. I then add the blue to the water & give it a swirl so that it is diluted.

It has worked for me for the last 20 years.

Same as Graham

I always put a little in because I have suffered a burn from blue on my hand once and the thought of the effects of splashback to someone sitting on it is more than a little worrying, however unlikely!

Garfield where did you get the idea you had to add 2 litres of water to the holding tank before you add the Aquakem. That's total rubbish. All you need is a covering of water in the bottom of the tank to dilute the Aquakem. Ken

Its on the bottle!

I must say it's the first I've ever heard of adding ANY water. I've always just put the blue chemical in and that's it. There's never been a problem with our cassette.

When using Fenwicks Top n Tail, I add 2 litres of water to 'prime' the holding tank as stated on the instructions.

I seemed to recall that when I last used Elsan branded fluid, I didn't have to add any water to the tank.

Have you ever considered cutting out the middle man & pour the lager straight into the loo?

Way back in the late 70's earlt 80's in a Greene King pub, I seem to remember seeing a sign saying "please dont drop your cigarette ends into the urinal, as it blocks the pipe to the Fosters canning works!"

well now have u noticed that this topic has only been replied to by men, is that we always get the (s**t) jobs to do (excuse the pun)or we just get nominated to do it lol i hope i have not offended anyone 😉

Hi Alan & Men!

Sounds to me as if you lot fill the loo up with the amount of lager going into it. So that`s maybe why you get the job of emptying it.

I wonder who actually cleans the toilet inside and who does the job at home? Now that`s a can of worms !
