Hi John,

De Chantepie, a few miles West of Saumur was excellent when I visited a few years ago; it has also been recommended by others on this forum.

L'etang de la Breche (a Les Castels site) also looks good and has been recommended here. With a Les Castels Privilege Card it costs 16 Euro per night up to the end of June and from September 1st.

Like Jan, I find the 'ACSI' discounts good value, but again these only apply in the low season to the end of June, and then from the beginning of September.

Enjoy your holidays.

Try the Camping Cheque website http://www.campingcheque.co.uk/en/ where you'll find a map -

'our campsites' . Right click on the map of France, then click on a site to find out what facilities it offers. There are several around Saumur - each costing only

Google le chant d'oiseau. Lovely quiet site, as the name suggests. About 15 k from Saumur, run by an English couple. Pretty, wooded site but with sandy surface.

Try Camping Ile d'Offard. It is on an island in the middle of the Loire. Nice and peaceful, plenty of space. Good swimming pool next to the site.
