Tow Balls?

I always thought that a tow ball was a tow ball.. fullstop end of story.

Now I keep seeing references to 'Al-ko balls'

My car came fitted with (I guess) a standard 'ball' but the caravan with a AKS 605 363 hitch.

Should I before towing again change the ball?

Ive had no trouble towing up till now but reading up threads etc here and elsewhere am begining to question the need to change for peace of mind.

The 'ALKO' ball has a longer neck to allow for full movement of the ALKO hitch. Although yours will work, it is better to get the correct ALKO towball. Better safe than sorry. Actually you often get the towball when you buy a new caravan, at least I did.

I have seen a standard towball gouged below the ball because the neck was not long enough.

Have a look on the Alko website
