Tow hitch lock advice and other tips for newbie caravan owner

Hi, I've just bought a 2004 Abbey Freestyle, which is in lovely condition. I've not currently got a tow car, so it's stored in my garden and I want to ensure it doesn't get stolen so I've bought and fitted a Stronghold wheel clamp for it. I want to get a tow hitch lock too but don't know which one to get - could anyone tell me which one fits and has a good safety rating?
I'm also thinking of getting a kettle and microwave to go in it. Sorry if this is a daft question but do I need to get specific caravan ones so they don't overload the electrics?
Many thanks

Welcome to the Forum. I would look at the Alko hitch locks as there are two models I used the conformal one that fits very neatly over the Alko stabiliser head, if your van has one fitted.

Thank-you, I have been looking at them, I'll aim to work out which one will fit best.

We had a normal kettle (2000w) until we went on a site that was only 10amp. Kept ripping the bollard so downgraded to a 1000w kettle and no more issues. As for microwave a 800w should be okay to use in the caravan.

Hi welcome to the forum
Your caravan should be able to be connected to a 16A supply, however some sites are 16A, some are 10A and some are 6A, so really it depends on the EHU of the site you are on.
My personal preference with regards to this is a low wattage kettle, OK takes a little longer to boil but saves going out to reset bollard in the rain,we also have a old whistling kettle in case of power cut on site.
As for hitch lock I have a saracen gullwing, easy to use.
I would also recommend as I have done install removable security posts as these serve several purposes, visual deterant, slows down any attempts of theft and also gives some protection to the front locker been broken into.
Hope this helps
