We have the Vectra 1.9 150bhp and can't speak highly enough of it we tow a Coachman Amara 520/4 1500 kilo and have towed with this outfit in excess of 18000 miles both home and abroad and have averaged 29.8 mpg towing. I have over the last 40 years towed with many combinations and find this the best yet I changed to the Vectra from a Discovery TD5 as i was so dissapointed with it, and have no regrets

Hi Paul.

I have just sold my 05 SRI Vectra CDTI 150 for the following reasons.

Where my van is stored there is a gravel track which is uphill and the vectra used to wheelspin like mad pulling up this hill.

Another problem for me was when on grass I didn't have enough ground clearance to turn the lever which removed the detachable towbar.

However on the tarmac the car had loooaaads of pulling power and will not slow on any hill. I was pulling 1100 kg's. If it wasn't for the gravel track I would still have mine and just put up with the other minor problems. I have now opted for a Shogun Sport which will pull any caravan, but I don't have the oomph or the excellent mpg of the Vectra. It'll be spot on... Dan.

I tow with an Astra SRi 1.9 CDTi 150 Estate which has a towing limit of 1400Kg. I would have expected the Vectra to be the same or more.

More than pleased with ours as a towcar, tows 1180Kg quite happily all day in 6th gear, resorting to 5th only on stiffer motorway gradients (or give the sport button a push!).

We have had reliabilty issues, only one but it was a major one, other than that we are quite happy, but because of the above we won't have another one!

Chris you will find that the max nose weight on the Vectra is 76kilo I load my van to give 75kilo as near to max as poss and as previously said get a supurb tow as yet have not suffered from any wheelspin in any conditions,I think you will find 90kilo is to heavy for most cars other than 4x4 but just alter your loading a little and you will soon achieve 75kilo I think you will find 90k on your van is the max not a must the car max is the most important and a legal requirement good luck

Hi Chris

Its simple when loading you van move some of the load backwards I find that putting all the heavy stuff over the axle then ajusting the load behind it changes the nose weight considerably you will find that to reduce the noseweight by 15kilo you need to put about 7/8 kilo to the back of the van
