Towing with a Peugeot 406

I this is my first post. I was wondering if my car a Peugeot 406 2.0HDi Rapier would be able to tow this caravan (ABI JUBILEE VICROY GT) The unladen weight is 968Kg and the max is 1200Kg.

The cars weight Kerbweight is 1330Kg and the 85% ratio is 1130Kg Maximum towing weight is 1500Kg.

But this is the question at 968Kg unladen by the time I add all the usual stuff like clothes, pot and pans, toys,Etc for me, my wife and my duaghter. Will I be over weight I am just new to caravaning and dont realy have a clue about weight.

Hi George

Is your 406 90bhp or 110bhp which is heavier?

Unless you go mad putting excess stuff into the caravan you should be OK. If in doubt carry gas bottles or other heavy items [awning] in the car. As there will be three of you in the car that will increase the ratio. Finally for complete peace of mind have the loaded van weighed at a weighbridge - maybe the car as well.

HTH

you should be fine i have the hdi 90 and tow a 2 berth no trouble at all, i am not sure what your caravan is like but going by the weight it is simular to mine, and i return around 37 mpg
