what are they like to tow with I'am thinking of buying a td4 to tow a Coachman Pastiche 460/2 (1430kg) .Your thoughts please
how strange that are no 4x4's in the top ten, and the only ones in the worst10 are probably the most popular ones :0)TD4 will tow it when it works, even the CC magazine has just published the report with Freelander as one of the worst cars for reliability.
Nephew was well chuffed after having his TD 4 Electrics fixed, the magazine hit the doormat and it blew the rear diff the next day at 40K on the clock.
Mines done 66k and aint missed a beat, me and all the other hundreds on the road must have stumbled on good ones !!!!TD4 will tow it when it works, even the CC magazine has just published the report with Freelander as one of the worst cars for reliability.

Your're right I should have qualified my statement about the 1.8. As you say the repairers are often at fault rather than the actual vehicle. The trouble is that there have been many bodged and therefore repeated repairs that the whole range has been tarnished IMHO.tjam, the 1.8 freelander head gasket problem is caused by a) "O" ring failure in the inlet manifold: dead simple item to replace on routine service, but rarely done or b) thermostat fitted in poor position by LR.Kit available to correct this. If these mods are carried out early enough, it's a cracking little motor.
I would also recommend Mark Smiths, my Disco td5 is always in there. If your anywhere near Bicester I recommend Mark Smith's, they are Land Rover approved and only charge half the price.
