TOWING WITH MONDEO

HI ALL,

WE HAVE JUST CHANGED OUR CAR TO A 52 PLATE NEW SHAPE FORD MONDEO 2.5 V6 HATCH, DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERENCE WITH TOWING WITH THE MONDEO

ALL ADVISE WOULD BE GREAT STILL LOOKING FOR A CARAVAN TO PULL WITH IT

we got our mondy at the start of june ours is a 2004 2.0 tdci zetec s its a great car far better than the laguna we had. we covered 1700 miles in july 1200 of those miles with the caravan and still managed to ave 36 mpg !! our van is a 93 cyclone.

Hi

Not sure if this helps, we used to tow with a 53 plate 2lt deisel Mondeo estate, our Swift was a 5 berth which was 85% ratio. The Mondeo towed like a dream with a caravan on the back caravan, 2 adults, 3 kids, awning and the stuff that goes along with having 3 kids. I now drive it as my car. We changed our caravan last year and hubby changed his car. Our current caravan is 95% ratio to the Mondeo. We prefer towing at about 85%.The Mondeo was a good tow car for us.

"I want to change to the new shape wife"

I'm sure your happy with the body shape as it is?

We had a Mondeo 2.0 automatic for three years and it was an excellent tow car. My only problem was the Ford fitted towbar and electrics. Not so much the swan neck tow bar, but the tuck away electric sockets. When you pulled them down the sockets were not side by side but one above the other. They were slung very, very low and I caught them on speed humps, or road work ramps more time than I care to remember. Would recommend that you dont get this type of electrics.
