Traction control

Hi , I have just bought a new Mondeo 2.0 TDCI which has traction control that you can have either on or off it defaults to being on.
My question is this in the on position does it have any impact on fuel consumption?

Even then it could only have a positive effect on fuel consumption because it cuts the engine power when it deploys.

if you are towing on grass and the wheels lose a bit of grip, turn the TC off. Loads of pedal to the metal, no rpms and you sit there thinking "why arent i moving"?.

I have 4wd with TC and on one ocassion it got itself very , very confused.

As Lutz says, the traction control works by reducing power, so it shouldn't have an adverse effect on fuel consumption.

However, reducing power is not necessarily what you want when towing, so there will be occasions when it will be better to turn it off and use driving skill rather than electronics to get you moving on a slippery surface.
