Trips like these really depends on you, its a long way, with the most direct being from the ports of calais or dunkirk heading to luxembourg - metz -strassbourg into switzerland at basle and entering into Italy near como. then picking up the A1 at milan and heading south..cost wise isnt bad either compaired to french toll roads,. but you might like france and want to stop over there, or you might want to see a little of switzerland and other places in Italy.... the Italian bit well youre going to drive right by lake como, the A1 takes you by florence and rome... www.camping.it can help with the Italian leg.
