Tyres for freelander

Hi there

Have got to get 4 new tyres for my landrover freelander TD4.

Been to Kwik Fit and have been looking around. The tyres I have on the car are Michelin 4x4 Synchrone. But to replace will cost £698 the cheapest Quote. Does anyone have the same car and use a Budget tyre and how have they got on with them? I do not use the car for off roading a such but for towing just in fields when towing the caravan.

Kind regards best wishes Steve.

If you look on the Kwik Fit web site there are Bridgestones from around

What size wheels has your Freelander got? The Freelander has 15" wheels as standard, but 16", 17" and even 18" wheels are optional. The larger low profile tyres are bound to be more expensive.

Hi Stephen,

Personally I swear by Yokohama - I first discovered them on a Big Healy I bought a few years ago, they were streets ahead in road holding and compliant ride and recently I fitted a set of Yokohama Geolandars to my Shogun. The difference in ride comfort and roadholding compared to Bridgestones was just amazing!

My Classic Princess has also been treated to a set of A Drives for it's Christmas Pressie, so that's how good I think they are.

Now the how to buy them bit.

Google in Tyreshopper or Blackcircles and type in your tyre size. You will find a fantastic choice of tyre and they will both beat Kwik fit by about 20 to 30% on price.

You pay for the tyres on line and nominate a centre nearest you to fit them.

I used Tyreshopper because they were cheaper by about a fiver a tyre and had them fitted at my local National tyre centre after about 3 working days - brilliant service!

Michelines are good but top end pricewise, I found goodyear and Firestone to be just above budget price with my favourite Yoko's a tad dearer.

I am less than impressed with budget tyres, you tend to get what you pay for - they wear quicker and go out of balance quckly in my experience.

Stephen

We use Goodyear Wrangler tyres for our TD4. When we had to replace our existing tyres the told us these were a good tyre. They seem to be ok

I know not always a recomendation but have you tried a Landrover dealer.

Wont bore you with the story but I had a double puncture on my Disco 3 and forked out
