Tyron bands prevent a deflated tyre from coming off the rim whereas runflat systems allow you to continue to drive in an emergency with extra care and reduced speed to the nearest tyre shop. Runflat systems have a lubricant inside the tyre which prevents it from overheating and destroying itself if run in a deflated condition. Tyron bands, on the other hand, prevent potential loss of control should a suddenly deflated tyre cause severe instability but they do not provide a runflat feature, i.e. you must stop and change the wheel immediately just as any conventional tyre. The 2 systems therefore serve a totally different purpose and cannot be compared.
