A tip I was given (although not fully covering your ssituation) was on arrival at campsite when stopping to book in release the stabilser ,the van will not come off when you drive to your pitch the stabiliser will by that time release and should come off straight away. This has worked for me for past 4 years on both Alko and Winterhoff stablisers

Hi Rambler, sound bit of advice, do you know if it would work with the separate leaf stabaliser (Bulldog), I do have an alko chassis but as the van is a 95 model it hasnt got the built in stabiliser and yes I have the unhitching problem.
Thanks

Hi Gagakev
Do not think it would help you as with the built in stabiliser all you are doing is releasing the stabiliser the van is still firmly attached to the tow ball,In essence I am moving the van and in doing so it pushes the friction pads back off the ball.Would suggest that you probabley have a problem with the tow ball try vleaning it up to make it shiny and malke sure there is no paint or other material on it
Cheers hope this helps

Thanks Rambler will give it a jolly good clean before the next outing.
On that note though as it is the older type it is smoothered in grease
Maybe a bit of debris in the grease ? So clean it all off and use fresh.

Forest, Thanks for telling me I have a front bearing/pad in head

Sorry if daft question but is that on the hitch or are you referring to the
stabiliser pads, which would not effect it.
Due for service before Easter, so if the hitch will get it checked by the engineer
before our next venture.
Thanks Chaps
Kev
