Very good courier service via UPS.

We find some tv dramas and films have quite unclear audio when actors are speaking (mumbling perhaps). I then either have to turn up my hearing aids above the optimum setting which makes them tinny, or have sub titles on, or have the tv volume higher which my wife doesn’t particularly like.

So after much research on Monday around lunchtime I ordered a soundbar. At 1600 I received a message from UPS that it would be delivered today between 0945 and 1045. Looking at its tracking history it came from Eindovehen. All this with no charge for delivery. It arrived 1025, so very good service. Plus it was £140 cheaper than from Currys.

Wouldn't Bluetooth earphones been better? Mine are the same size as my normal hearing aid and sue the BT from the TV. Then no need to TV volume to be loud.

What I have found is that the volume can change from program to program even though they are on the same channel? Also between channels there can be a marked difference. Plus the fact that when adverts come on they seem to be a lot louder than the program being watched.

I’ve got a pair of wireless Bose Ultra Noise Cancelling headphones that are Bluetooth enabled. But to use them the tv settings need to be changed from its internal speakers to Bluetooth out. This does work but also shuts off sound to the room so my wife wouldn’t be able to hear the programme at all. For solo listening they are good having several modes, but still don’t extract voice audio too well from mumbling actors. The sound bar takes the tv output and now having set it up it in voice mode does improve voice clarity but not to a level that is artificial to the programme.
It also has Bluetooth output if required.

Even in programmes volume levels can vary annoyingly eg The Americas, and some of David Attenboroughs being quite variable.

My earphones fit in the ear and don't cancel the sound of the Tv, but do cancel OH asking me to do a repair. LOL! As a matter of interest which sound bar have you got as tried a sound bar previously, but too much bass distorting the speech even after selecting speech mode.
