Hi considering chaging tow car to the Vw passat 130 and fancy a auto tiptronic anybody tow with auto on this model

Caravan is Avondale Hawk weight loaded approx 1350

Hello Steve , would our Skoda 2.0 140bhp with DSG gearbox which we tow a 1350klg be any use telling you what it goes like?.It has many of the same parts as the Passet.
 
I've got a 140 bhp Touran with the DSG box, (similar set up to Robert's), and tow a 1500 kg. 'van with it. I think it's a brilliant towcar, but the DSG box is completely different to the tiptronic. Hopefully someone will come along who has towed with one and give their experience.
 
Have towed with a Passat Sport TDI 130Sport for 5 years (albeit a manual). Absolutely brilliant. Now have a 140TDI Sport Estate which isn`t in the same league when towing.

I still have the 130 but tow with the 140 as it`s a company car and I don`t pay for the fuel. If I was paying the new one wouldn`t get out of the drive.

Hello Steve , the answer is YES, our last car was the X-Trail 2.5 168 bhp auto (04). The Skda has a much better mpg in fact i would say double when towing, the dsg gearbox in my opinion is fantastic , you have to have one to know the difference between normal auto to this one.The room inside our hatchback swollows the awning and other clobber.Comfort wise the Skoda has and i suppose the Passett has same so many things to make your journey more relaxing.

Hello Eddie, are you saying the DSG box is not so good or am i reading it wrong?.
