VW Tiguan inspection now

This has come on my car saying inspection now due in 20 days do i book it in to be on the safe side still waiting for my new car not had any further update from Ford dealer .

My daughter in law ordered a new MG electric vehicle which should have been delivered in December last year.
The charging point was installed on their drive, but she's still waiting for the car to arrive.
Unfortunately she sold her old car, a bad decision with delivery dates being so unreliable.
I'd carry on as normal until you've got the new car BB.

I would have it done as it keeps the service record intact and there may be something lurking that needs fixing.

My service schedule states 2 years or 20 k miles, on the Santa Fe, but the servicetime " in car setting" is 365 days or 10k miles.

Beachball is your Tiguan still under warranty? If not you have some leeway wrt when you have it serviced such that your hew car could be here soon.

A number of cars have a mandatory service requirement of 2 years / 20,000 miles to appease the fleet owners but most also have a recommendation to add an interim service at 1 year / 10,000 miles.

Almost all enthusiasts adopt the shorter interval

Yes Hyundai have the same, but as I am traveling about, 7k a year and not towing much I am sticking to the 2 year 20 k schedule.

I’m a bit of a dinosaur wrt oil and even when I had a 2 year, 20k schedule I still changed oil annually. I had a colleague who managed a government oil laboratory and his ethos was if you do long journeys the oil will last virtually for ever. All that’s required would be a periodic filter change. He practiced what he preached and his Toyota Crown just went on for ever. But he did commute 50 miles each way on the motorway to the laboratory.

In the early days of multigrade oils, the viscosity range deteriorated quite quickly so than a 20W-50 (remember Duckhams?) became a 20W-20 over about 3,000 miles - things gradually improved and modern ACEA Cx graded oils have a requirement to "stay-in-grade" over the extended oil change interval.

It's long been normal in USA to change oil frequently, eg every 3,000 miles but to use single viscosity oil - it's also cheap and easy there to get oil analysis done which monitors the engine condition more closely than we do in Europe/UK.

I had a service done by a MOT and service place. At a good price, but after 6 months I was checking my oil, and noticed if was fairly dark and upon "Feeling" it, decided to change the Oli and filter, 12 month later it is still nice and cleanish and to an Engineer's feel is still nice. Cheap oil and filter used I would think.

That was/is much easier with a petrol car - on a diesel the oil gets dark very quickly, like just 100s of miles.

Thought VW only gave three years warranty but if you purchased extra warranty coverage then you’d best have it inspected if your warranty cover requires it.
VW standard warranty is only 3 years - but when new can be extended, at a price, for a 4th, or 4th/5th year on the same terms.
