Water pump leak

Hi, after a bit of advice if possible. My tourer is sighted on a new site which is serviced. I have used a whale direct water hose this weekend, for the first time, which worked fine but I have found that the pump under the seat (smartflo UV814) has started to drip leak, I presume due to the pressure. The next day I swapped back to the normal submersible water pump & aquaroll but the water won't flow through the taps properly now using this system, seems like it's just spurting with air even when I run it for 10/15 minutes it won't flow steady through the taps. Tried the direct hose again and the flow is great but back to the leak. Have I damaged the pump under the seat, which I have removed for inspection then fitted it back. Any advice is greatly received. Thanks.

I am confused.

Why would you use an internal pump with a direct mains supply?
Or
Why would you use an internal pump with an external pump?

Not sure what you mean as I'm quite new to this. I started caraning last year and always used a submersible pump with aquaroll and tried the direct water supply which caused the leak. The part its leaking from is under the seat and when I googled the part number it comes up as a whale pump

I would be highly surprised if the higher pressure has damaged the pump , they are rated at quite high pressures. What I think is happening from your description is that leak is on input of the pump which, when on mains, the high pressure is leaking out and when on internal pump, it is pulling in air rather than drawing up the water, which being less dense, is easier to suck in(actually atmospheric pressure pushes it in). Can you post a photo of the leak . My first thought would be that an O ring in the inlet, having sat against the pipe for many years, has lost a bit of 'shape' becoming flattened. Also the 12mm pipe may also have suffered or may have been slightly pushed out of the fitting. first I would remove the inlet pipe from the pump inlet and then refit it to see if the leak disappears, then if not , remove the white collet from the inlet of the pump( see marked up photo) and remove the O ring and inspect it for flattening on the inside or calcium build up , same for the inlet pipe. New O rings can be bought from polymax and others , the size I use for John guest 12mm fitting is 11.5 ID and 2.8mm section - Nitrile type, for a fraction of the price of a new pump.
