Water pump making a clicking noise

Buccaneer Cruiser 2018. Question from newbies, we just realised our on board tank was full after using the ext position on the water pump switch. Once we realised we decided to use this up, then switch to aquaroll, so turned the switch to internal. Used the water, the pump worked fine, then when the tap was turned off, there was a noise, which sounded like a clicking. Anyone had this issue or know what it might be?

It will almost certainly be the pressure switch that controls the pump that clicking, but the cause could be either the pressure switch needs adjusting (see pump instructions) or it could be a water leak. Check that all drain valves have been properly closed,

There is no pressure switch in the Cruiser for external as the adjustment is on the rear of inlet. There is a pressure switch for the Internal tank, but if 7 years we never found the need to adjust it.

On the Cruiser it has an automatic shut down if the system detects no water and it will switch off the pump. It is then quite normal to hear the clicking sound as it is trying to pressurised the system, but there is no water. However after a few clicks it switches off the pump.

Reading the OP it seems to indicate that both the onboard tank and the aquaroll are empty and only then when the tap is switched off is there a clicking noise. This is perfectly normal. We have a 2018 Cruiser.

But like yourself, until OP clarifies status of water and whether both are empty, we have to guess.

Seems the OP designation on her pump switch is different to mine.
She says

In my case onboard tank is internal, aquaroll ext. has the OP got mixed up??

To fill the onboard tank you switch to Ext. Once full you switch to Int to use that water. When the onboard tank runs out it automatically switches to the Ext and if no water, the pump switches off but not until after it has tried to pressurised the system. Hence the clicking noise.

You’re very lucky. I have to use a finger to change the switch😁.
Jokes apart , if it is automatic I would expect some pumping up , clicking , for say 15 seconds. Any more I’d suspect an air lock or a leak??

Hi all, thanks for your replies. To clarify, the switch position was ext to begin with. We assumed this would mean water was being drawn from the aquaroll only. As we now realise, this means the on board tank was filled from the aquaroll. When we realised, we wanted to use up the water in the on board tank, so switched to Int. We ran a tap to make sure the system worked, and after switching the tap off heard the pump clicking. It happened twice, then we switched it back to 0 position to use the aquaroll, and drained the internal tank until we could find out what the issue might be or if this was normal.
