Hi Alan,

I am currently towing a Bailey Pageant MTPLM 1400kgs with a VW Passat 2.0 petrol, and want to change to a diesel. I am considering the new 2007 Honda CRV 2.2 diesel which looks very nice, but I am wondering what mpg I will get when towing and solo.

tow elldis avante' 1.3t (plus contents) with 1997 2.0l frontera sport. bit gutless in 4th & 5th, but extreamly stable & totally reliable. will pull anyone & anything (including disco's etc!) out of the mire. amazing how car (& some 4x4) owners want to be you're friend when they get stuck! would advise something more powerfull if towing much over 1 ton unless experianced.

Hi All

Just thinking of changing my tow car from a Hyundai Santa Fe 2Ltr Diesel 2003 to the new Hyundai Santa Fe but a 2.2Ltr Diesel.Towing an Avondale Landranger 640.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome.

By the way, very satisfied with the Hyundai, therefore reluctant to change but, have to keep an open mind.

Regards to you all

Wow a Landranger with a 2.0 litre RESPECT. I tow a Landranger with a Landcruiser Amazon and would not like to have any less power than the 4.2 litre delivers.

yes grahamW, I thought that too, but didn't like to comment. I'd want more than two litres with that on the ball. My Royale weighs in at 1400kgs, and I use 4.2 litres for that. Also don't fancy the relatively short Santa fe with a loooong Landranger. But as i say so often, to each his own.

Hi Andy,

Like you we have a Frontera we love it great small 4x4 we tow a sterling eccles trecker. Only been away once with this outfit and all went well, saying that it was flat ground, we are a bit worried that it might not have the pulling power going up steep hills but we'll have to try it to find out. How do you get on with yours and steep hills?

Hi.

I am about to take delivery of a bailey 470/4 and have a Octavia TDI and am very pleased with it. I used to tow a folding camper,so towing a caravan is new to me. Could any one advise me what the rear tyre pressures should be on the octavia. The info on the diesel cap says 3.3 which is 48 psi which seems very high to me.

Could anyone please advise

Thanks

Chris
Hi Christopher, we have Octavia Elegance 140 bhp with DSG gearbox and our filler cap say's 2.2 bar. We tow Coachman Pastiche 460/2

Hi Phil, sorry can't really help you as I've never measured it, just fill it up when it's empty ;O) As I've said before on the Forum , I probably get better MPG towing than I do solo, gentle acceleration ,braking and sticking to 60 mph helps. It's the 2nd Mav we've had and would recommend them to anyone.
