Come on now removing a solar farm or wind farm and remediating the land is dead easy compared to removing a nuclear power station. Look how successfully old coal mines and large power stations and steel works have been removed and re-used for other purposes. Although if wind and solar are removed and not replaced where will their contribution of energy come from?
Solar panels are not allowed to be dumped in landfill. They can be recycled but at a cost of course.
Wind turbines cannot be recycled and are a real disposal issue. Usually dumped in landfill,

Our plan B is sitting on the drive - caravan with plenty of LPG and a fully charged battery!
I have the same plan B. I do need to check how long the battery will last running the heating though. I guess I could always revert to putting the oven on with the door slightly open.

If off shore oil and gas rigs can be removed and parts recycled then it’s not beyond the wit of man to sort our solar panels and old wind turbines. It’s obvious that some materials may have to go to landfill but what’s wrong with that. It’s can be used to remediate areas, or find uses as aggregate. As a society we seem to have few qualms about sending our household waste to landfill or energy so why adopt different standards for solar panels and wind turbines? Where do caravan old solar panels go?

Yes, our important infrastructure does have to be designed to better withstand extreme weather because with global warming it’s likely to become frequent. Two power stations were out out of action when their chimneys collapsed. One in Storm Eunice and one in Storm Darragh, and how long have we been building chimneys?

Guess they may happen when the lowest price tender is accepted as it is lower than the others probably for a good reason? Not saying it happened in this case, but it probably does happen.

Not so.
I don’t make the rules so please don’t shoot me😇

It is well documented Solar Panels are not legally allowed to be dumped in Landfill. Something to do with toxic substances that contaminate the land. Professional companies do exist who strip out any salvageable bits eg glass and rare earth metals .The rest goes to specialists for disposal at a cost and I don’t know where😉

The wind turbine blades are a real problem as they cannot be recycled .Landfill for them.

I did not say that solar panels should go to landfill. "Some materials …..”were my words. I'm not that naive that I think that everything can be recycled. But Orsted claim 95% recyclability and the link to National Grid shows the progress, and work in. hand.It is a progressing scene and I find it difficult to understand why there are so many negatives put forward that are so fixed in time.

As I said I don’t make the rules and can only deal with the current Laws on recycling. Everything is possible in the future certainly no negatives merely fact😉.
Everything has a price of course and whilst we all strive for a clean environment basic economics cannot be ignored; or can they?

From an anti wind turbine pressure group, I'm sure this will be unbiased reliable and truthful.

There is nothing dangerous about wind turbine recycling unlike nuclear waste disposal.

There are parts of turbines that can be recycled just not the blades, yet.
If you do a Google search there are other reliable links showing the same. It is the cost of recycling these wind turbines and also the solar panels.which is another taxation on the taxpayer. Currently I am told that the recycling units cannot cope.

When it's windy my off peak electricity price is about 3pkWh or less. Tomorrow peak period 5-7 pm it's all gas and is 92pkWh.
Even the off peak is nudging 25p
Bring on more wind as far as I am concerned.
