Have a Skoda hatchback. Which has to hold Scooter, sticks, water /waste, chairs awning, and worst of all my fishing gear . Hope I never have a punture

When me and my brother were children ( aged 12 and 10) we went camping with our parents. We had an orange MFI tent. This was the old fashioned heavy canvas. We had an Opal Kadett. The boot was full. The roof rack was piled so high the car had doubled in height. My brother and I were sitting on sleeping bags and pillows so that our heads were brushing the inside of the car roof. Overloading wasn’t a thing back then.
We did have a puncture. Dad eventually dug out the Jack and the spare wheel, but the only way to get any lift on the car was to have me, my brother and our mum sitting on the car bonnet to provide a counterweight to get the back wheel off the ground.
Happy Days.
Mel
