just tried to open this topic and got error message "no suitable nodes available for this request", or somthing like that.

Was wondering if it was possible to have the forums listed with the lastest post at the top, as of old?

It's already been asked for or a link to 'View all unread posts'.
They said they were going to look into it but had to get another website up and running today.
 
Except we didn't. And I'm now going to Le Lude and Lot-et-Garonne for three weeks so am going to have to leave it to Austin. Austin? Austin?!?!?
 
Its took me 2 days to get past check point charlie (log on).

I don't know what is tricky about calling me plain old, steveinleo, but it got changed to steve in Leo. Probably a drunken typo!!!???
The noreply@haymarket.com thingy didn't help as it asked for the log in name which I didn't know at the time had been changed and without that and my decades old E-mail address that it wouldn't recognise. I was banging my head on a brick techie wall!!

So now having found the unsolicited change of a singular word to three and not starting with a capital, I got in with my old password.

So I've asked for normal service to resume, ie, call me steveinleo.

They are notifications for PHP programming errors, nothing you can do about it.

It does beg the question why Haymarket didn't use phpbbs or one other 'standard' bbs programs that include most of the common features associated with bbs systems that this one lacks.
 
I have all the error stuff at the top of the page too, and everything is huge and really spread out vertically. Is it me? Can I fix it?

Because this website is completely new there have been some technical problems which Haymarket's I.T. team are working hard to resolve.
The relpy boxes are bigger and the forum page is a little bit wider but it's a simplle matter to scroll across a fraction of an inch.
Have a look at some of the topics in the 'Our Website' section where the technicians are monitoring difficulties and providing explaations and advice. There is a topic about the forum headers and error messages.
Things will settle down soon and you will hopefully enjoy using this website much more than the old steam powered one.
 
Hi Folks you did not have to change your passwords, i to when logging on the first time my password kept getting rejected , a quick email to the mods instant reply , I was able to insert my original password and hey presto up and running.
Do not getting of those weird things on my log on screen, perhaps using Virgin Broadband helps.
 
Hello all. Val A, if you have got rid of all the text on the top half of the page, it looks like it has been passed on to me. This is the first time I have logged on since the site changed. Help an old geezer please. Henry
 
Henry, it is all being sorted, read the topics in the Our Website section. Strange though that some of us get the warning headers, and others (like me! luckily) don't.

The jumbled text at the top of your webpage has been a problem for several members and it appears to be a glich with the new set up.
I had the same problem the first time that I used this new website but luckily (for me) it went after I switched off and switched on again the next time and I have had no problem since.
The guys in Haymarket's technical department are aware of the problem and will fix it on Monday when they are back at work.
I'm pleased to see that you logged on ok anyway Henry.
 
I really am losing the will to live! To log into the "old" website (which worked!) all I needed was my email address and the password. I have entered all manner of "usernames" and "passwords" (including the correct email address and password) but it always comes back with "not known". I have tried to re-register, but it won't let me because my email address is already logged.

Why do folk have to meddle. If it ain't broke, let's break it!
 
If you cannot log in, how come you are posting here?

Hi Nigel
You have obviously managed to log in ok now and your details should now be stored so that you will be fine the next time.
The problems have arisen because John Duncan requested forum members on the old forum to alter their usenames so that they became unique to them. Christian names like 'Tom, Dick' or in this case 'Nigel' wouldn't work after the update because they are often shared by more than one person using the forum.
The only trouble is that very few members changed their usernames, perhaps they weren't sure how to do it.
You will notice that your old username of 'Nigel' has now become 'Nigel_374368045', this is to render the forum username unique to you to prevent confusion and others from adding comment under your username. Now that your password is established you could if you wanted to go back into your log in via 'My Account' at the top of the forum page and change your username to something more easily recognisable.
I'm sorry to have to say this Nigel but the old forum was most definitely broken and in urgent need of fixing believe me!

For anyone trying to log in for the first time without much success they can simply enter their email address to request a new password.
The password will be sent to the email address supplied and it can then be used to log in and change the username and password if required.

Hi. So I had to change my password, at least it has got rid of all the gibberish at the top of the page. That has nearly been harder than accessing my bank account.
 
Why do these IT boffins make things so difficult for your average joe bloggs.Ive spent the last hour trying to figure out whats what with this new forum,eventually succeeded.
Why bother changing it,there was nothing wrong in the first place

Oh yes there was, plenty wrong with the old forum, no edit facility, no easy way to add pictures, no way of changing fonts amongst other things.
