TDi galaxy, sharan, or alhambra mk2`s.

I`d go for at least the 115bhp model, and they have a max tow weight of 2000kg.

There aren't many non-4x4s over 1500kg to give 100% and even fewer over 1765kg to give 85%.

Volvo S70 / V70 and Vauxhall Omega would be obvious choices.

We towed out twin axle Lunar Quasar with a Vauxhall Omega Estate 2.5v6. It was a good towcar but we have now changed to a 4X4 and it is significantly better and the fuel consumption is better with the 4X4 than the omega.

i would go for a seat alhambra, great towcar, great mpg and 85 on the max towball weight. or even a galaxy or sharan or kia sedona. ive had 2 4 x 4's and would never have one again. i had a vauxhall monterey 3.1 td (same as trooper)and a grand cherokee jeep 4.0 petrol. you need very deep pockets for both.

we have just bought the new kia sedona and its amazing its far better than the write up david motton gave it on pc this month. we used it to tow at the weekend and took it up to 60 you cant hear no noise at all you wouldnt even know it was a diesal thats how quiet it was. and so much better on fuel better than we ever thought it would be.

How about a Mondeo Tdi estate, weighs in at 1547kg and probably a bit more if it's got a bit of extra kit.

Go for the Alhambra 130 tdi or it's sisters, a combination of space, economy, performance and stability that few if any 4x4's can match.

We also tow with a kia sedona, and agree with you, much better than the write up-apart from the bit about the heavy seats that was spot on!

Don't forget that all of these are made by VW in Portugal and badged accordingly. Rumour in the trade is that the Alhambra is best value.

I searched for info on the Citroen 2.2 HDi and the 2.0 Hdi estates, but cannot find out the max tow weights, each site I go on come up with different amounts. Can you shed any light on it.

Greetings Moth,

Had a citroen C5 Estate (110bhp) When I changed to the present van, Lunar Lexon CS MTPLM 1400kgs I have to say that the Citroen didnt like it. It was very stable because of the self levelling suspension but, because of the low kerb weight there were times in not ideal weather conditions when I had to take it steady (very).

Changed to an Audi A6 Estate. Whilst I have no hesitation in recommending it, I think you'd be lucky to get one for

This is looking a very good option, it reads that the estate 2lt tdci tow a max of 18ookg. do you have any more info on it . like good at towing or not and power / mpg. cheers

Both the galaxy tdi 115 and kia sedona's are availabe for under

5k.

the sedona has more power and is even cheaper than i galaxy.

I have a galaxy tdi 115, and tow a bustner max 1500. it tows it,

but i am not 100% happy with its ability, if i had the choice

again, then i would buy a sedona.
