My car does not have a spare as they won't fit in the well. problem is not so bad if I'm in the UK, but when abroad this could be a nightmare. I would like to buy a space save to use in an absolute emergency. Anybody know where I could buy a 19 inch spare?

The make and model of car might help.

You will probably have to go to the manufacturers dealer. A normal wheel and tyre will probably be the cheaper option if you have space elsewhere.

My friend damaged her spacesaver driving to fast on it and it was very expensive to replace.

Hi SS

Its a VW phaeton. I have tried VW but they say they don't do one. Their idea is to provide a emergency tyre repair kit which is a joke really. If you have a puncture and then use this stuff, apparently your tyre is then ruined. At

My tyre fitter recently told me that space saver tyres, where just about the same price as the "correct" tyre, i would price up both before you pay out for a space saver, assuming you have the space available for a full size tyre.

Ray, the difference is, I reckon I could squeeze the space saver into the well, but a full size 19" won't fit.

Suggest ask at a VW dealership if any of their other models use a spacesaver of that size (or else next time you see a car in a car park with your size/fit wheels ask the owner?).

Then go to a scrap yard.

Plan "B" fit "Flat Free" if it won't invalidate your warranty.

Ian, your car may be fitted with 19" wheels but I'm sure it will not be a 19" space saver.

Space savers are tiny compared to normal wheels and look lost in the wheel arch on many cars.

Wheel bolt spacing and brake clearance for your car will be the main issue.

VW technical must be able to give some advice re what will fit.

How about VW Toureg, Audi Q7 or A8 space savers. Same family and large cars with large wheels.

If there is a spare wheel well, do they supply a space saver in other markets? If so a dedicated wheel must be available from VW Germany.

No luck, well try www.wheel-whores.com there's a forum there dedicated to guess what: WHEELS
