hi charlie

the main point about about the showers not working is theyve had the last few weeks to sort out any teething problems before the site opened...also they were letting people onto there pitches from about 9 30 in the morning, whilst i dont have a problem with this,we turn up at 12 and nearly all the pitches are gone!for the last 3 years this site has had miserable wardens, before you say go somewhere else, why should i,i pay my membership to this and c&cc.

the more members these clubs seem to have, the worse they get,in my opinion!!!

i find most wardens helpful and courteous but have come across a few that were were power mad , rude little people withe no communication skills what so ever, but these are in the minority.

From your post you seem to have come across a few of these wardens.Perhaps your approach to them may have set them up the wrong way?

Funny l was at Carsington water last weekend and found the amenities to be well look after, you have to remember with the inclement weather their was bound to be mud trampled into the toilet block with the amount of people using them after they had been cleaned, didn't help with the usual children unaccompanied hanging around in them.

You do know there is a mop and bucket supplied, you should mop the floor after use of the showers, saw to many just up and go, all showers were working that l could see.

One warden may have come across has though he was grumpy, wasn't really just a bit of dry humour.

The wife was booking in and the person before asked if their were any more do's and don'ts this year, yes just one more don't drive over my grass its wet, what happened l counted at least 5 units ploughing over the grass no wonder he was a bit down.

We had a great time, the lemon drizzle cake was delicious we bought from the site shop and so was the fish and chips on Friday from the chippy van.

Shame that there are still people who think that Caravan Wardens are servile servants to do whatever bidding "His Lordship" desires!

They are not JOBSWORTH'S. They are Caravan Wardens, and the very fact that you have described them as JOBSWORTH'S shows most of us where the problem is.

But then Moaning seems to be the new IN thing for many families.

SO WHAT that there were two showers out of commission. Use another one. And who cares that it was a Bank Holiday? Not everybody has it off you know. Finally PEOPLE make dirt......not the Wardens. Human beings are the dirtiest animals on the planet.

I'd stop your membership if you feel so aggrieved. Best all round.

It's quite easy to see how Site Wardens get miserable, as mentioned above they have to deal with moaning members on a daily basis! Just take a look at a recent post where someone has driven their outfit over a rock whilst moving around a site and is now trying to blame the site owner for their actions!

If the site is poorly maintained then by all means complain to the wardens, but do they really have to pretend to be your best friends too?

I think you must have been very unlucky indeed.

I have been using CC sites for decades and in all honesty with the exception of a site in West Wales have never encountered a "jobsworth" Warden.

The Wardens work bloody hard day in day out , tending the site, lawns , facilities and many run errands way beyond their duty. The Wardens at Dunnet Bay for example even collect the daily newspaper for you. They don't have to ! Their wages are poor.

Inclement weather is bound to mess up the floor of the toilet / shower block but as Nigel says there is a bucket and mop supplied. It takes 30 seconds to give the floor a quick wipe.

Were they rude to you??

Cheers

First off I must say that 95% of wardens are genuine hard working people, who because in the majority they come from caravanning/motorhome backgrounds, know what is expected from the majority of us caravanners.

However as with any customer facing service, you will find Mr Jobsworth and his mate Clipboard Charlie.

I'm currently experiencing a frump called Don't do as I do, do as I say.

Example he rather nastily told off a young child from our village for riding their bikr on the access road to the office, but then got the tongue lashing from the child's mom who was escorting her child. But same said warden 5 out of 7 days a week rides his bike down the same piece of road at speed to go fitness training.

Seems to me that the cold winter has bitten into some people in positions where they should be polite but informative and relaxed but in control and made them bitterly cold just like the easter weather.

Then of coarse we are not noticed or taken notice of by the owners as usually they are silent venture capitalist's these days who only look at the bottom line, on the spreadsheet.

Our site has lost a lot of seasonal occupants purely because of one individual and only those of us who have either no choice, or just put up and shut up remain.

What a way to describe a site. I could not review this site for all the bad reasons, but on the other hand I did review our winter site where the owner occupier worked his socks off to keep his site open and to me is a model warden for others to learn from. you'll see what I mean in next months mag.

But being honest, who do you contact if a site is clearly not upto standard, either club or private sector. How does a site get 5 stars but of earned it or get a bellamy award but still have profanic litter issues and lack of thought to protect wild creatures from injury on the litter?

All food for thought.

Dusty l think l know the warden he may be on about, he was just a one of those who pretend to be forceful but really it was all tongue and cheek, if you worked in the engineering trade then you would know the type of person l mean.

Same warden opened the Disabled toilet for those that needed the toilets while they were cleaning the main ones.

Don't know if you have been to Blackwall plantation, but there is more than enough room to park the van without crossing the grass verge, even so while l was their numerous did.

Every body has bad day and when you see countless people drive across your grass verges when they are saturated with the over night rain and you have said please don't cross them or drive on them, then l think l would get upset.

Keith l am not taking sides, maybe he was rude to you l don't know all l can say we had wonderful time their and are planning to go back in July or even earlier.

Always done Grin Low , so not been to Blackwall Plantation.

A little care and aforethought can avoid damage to the grass.

Why do people do it? If the pitch layout is poorly designed , ok , but as you say Blackwall has plenty of space.

Another good reason for having a mover maybe.

Cheers

Afternoon All,

Just have to " fess up ". I cut the corner of my pitch when leaving last week from Killin. It was only the van's right hand wheel that went over the grass, the car was on the road the whole time, but it left about 3 metres of ugly black mark.

Lesson learned for me.

Ground was sodden, exit was tight, but could've pulled forward and reversed back and stayed off the grass.

( if any of you have been to Killin, we were on the pitch right next to the wee bridge that goes over the burn, by the play park )

I'll be at Killin next month. I'll check out your scars! LOL.

At least the club's turf is better than Wembley!

LOL ! Cheers Dustydog.

No grumpy wardens up there

There were a couple of showers and toilets out of order though and the site was chocca, but not a problem.

Oh and the leccy went out a few times. Think it was everyone's heating on full blast at night that did it. After a notice went up asking people to mind their usage, it never happened again.

Hope the weather holds for you,

( saying that, the Falls are much better after a good downpour, LOL ! )

Alex.

In this thread with regard to two sites it has been stated that a couple of showers were out of order and in one case a couple of toilets. In the majority of cases as I and friends have found on sites the showers and toilets are not out of order. They have been locked due to the wardens belief that all the showers and toilets are not required for whatever reason. This practice has been gathering pace over the last couple of years. I can fully understand some being locked on a half full site but not on a busy site, resulting in caravanners waiting for a shower or loo. If you want proof, next time you see a couple of showers locked, unlock the door and try the shower.

thanks all for your comments and the scorning from NGH,keith and wendy.i assume your all wardens,if not i would take my head out from that dark place youve put it!!!

my point is,ive come to expect a good standard of sites and people who use them, with regard the showers, why not get them fixed before the holiday weekend?obviously some people work the weekends too,eh keith.

when im older,i would like nothing more than being a warden, mixing my hobby with with work,so i think its a priveliged job,so why do it if you dont seem to like it?

ngh-if thats dry humour i chuck a bucket of water on him when i visit again in may..

i dont want them to be my new best mates,a curtious hello would be nice though.

maybe the people in the van opposite us thought we were just moaning members when me and my mate put his awning up for him, what do you reckon keith, ngh and wendy?????

cheers

rant over[for now]

Well Dave, I'm not a warden, but I am a member of both clubs and I have to say I have never met a miserable warden on any of the sites that I have used. I tend to agree with Wendy, I think your attitude speaks volumes and maybe you do reap what you sow.

HI! Steve i 100% agree with what you sayed, but you always get 1 that will moan about nothing you give someone an inch and they still want a mile. if they were not happy then they should have talked to the warden .NOT moan/greet on here. like a great ammount of people on here have said, been to a good few sites and NEVER had any problems with any .both the C&CC or CC

cheers Duggie
