Why white or cream

I asked a question about opinions of caravans with silver sides on this forum in the General section recently (last post 5th Oct)it caused quite a mixed bag of responses. I have not seen too many "cream vans" these days, I guess Avondale at one point were quite popular with the cream, but look what has sadly happened to them recently.

The most likely explanation for having white and cream is to keep them cool inside in summer. Darker colours absorb more heat, light ones reflect.

After this year's holiday, I'm more worried about waterproofing than heat absorbtion!!!

Seriously, though, ours is a cream one ( 1989 Swift ) and it really looks aged. The white ones seem to stay looking newer, so one of the criteria for our next van is that it must be white.
 
And there was me thinking that most caravans were white or cream so that us older caravanners can find them in the dark!!
 
Many years ago we saw an outfit where the caravan had been sprayed in the same dark blue colour as the car. It looked very smart but the owners did find it very hot, and I always wonndered about who would buy it later in its life.
 
Lutz is quite right-black/dark colours do absorb more heat,but they also radiate more heat. So, you fry in the day and freeze at night! Best stick to white....
