Window box

I have just made a long window box to put some plants in but has anyone any suggestions as to what to put in the bottom for drainage, not to heavy as only 4 screws holding it up.

We use the polystyrene trays that garden centres give out for free to hold the plants you buy. We just break them up into small pieces and use to line the bottom of pots before filling with soil.

As an alternative try using some children's marbles although depending on the size of box may require quite a few.
